Phish Phans Busted For Drugs in Hampton

About 200 Phish phans were arrested on drug-related charges during Phish's 3 night reunion concert last weekend. This concert took place at Hampton Coliseum, a popular Phish venue.

Apparently police took approximately $1.2 million dollars worth of illegal drugs along with almost $70K in cash from concert phans. These people were in Hampton to see Phish live after a five year break.

It was reported that Phish did pick up the bill for around 200 law enforcement personnel at the wild weekend event.

Phish Biography

Phish is known for their extended jam sessions, unbelievably loyal fans, exploration of music between genres and their musical improvisations.

This band has its beginnings at the University of Vermont in 1983. This band performed together for over 20 years until their break in August of 2004. Phish has 4 band members.

They will begin a reunion tour of the United States starting with three shows in Hampton, Virginia at the Hampton Coliseum.

Phish's music brings together a wide variety of genres. These genres include bluegrass, funk rock, and jazz. Phish is very unique in that each of their concerts is completely original in terms of the songs performed, the order in which they are performed and which way Phish has performed them. They have been referred to as "one of the best jam bands of all time."

Phish has received very little MTV exposure or media exposure on the radio. They have over the years amassed a large and extremely dedicated group of followers. This group of followers who exchanged live recordings came together via word of mouth or via their website Phish.net.

Rolling Stone said that the band helped to "...spawn a new wave of bands oriented around groupo improvisation and superextended grooves."
